My Great North American Road Trip 2023

Well, I’m off!

Mission: to visit all of the 63 National Parks that I have not yet visited, except for the ones in Alaska, Hawaii, American Samoa, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Method: Driving a big counterclockwise circle around the lower 48 with my Wagon Train V. 2.0.

Means: Staying as much as possible in Thousand Trails campgrounds where my membership covers the cost.

Maximum Time: I aim to finish by October so I don’t get stuck in snow somewhere.

It’s a lot of ground to cover. As I set out, I’ve made plans and reservations for the Eastern half, but the Western half is still just a sketch. We’ll see how this goes and what changes along the way. (As I’ve said before, road trips never go as planned!)

I’ve done a lot of work to “streamline” my life to the point where I can afford to do this, in terms of both time and money. I know what an incredible privilege it is to be able to embark on an adventure like this. My plan is to keep this blog and my Facebook up to date with my adventures — the good, the amazing, and the “well that’ll give you a good story to tell later” moments. I want to share the sights I see and the things I experience, but also the things I feel and the thoughts I think, so that others can journey along with me.

Thanks for riding shotgun with me.
